WDR ferry sold to Greece consortium

The "Rungholt" has been sold to a consortium in Kissamos, Crete, which will use the ship for day trips as Nissos Chrissi". The ferry had been replaced by the Norderaue" in 2018. The contract was signet on Oct 17, 2019, in Hamburg. The ferry which had been laid up in Husum entered the Husum Shipyard on Oct 21 to be prepared for the transit to Piraeus where it will be converted for its new task.

On Jan 14, 2010, at 6.30 p.m. the "Rungholt", while approaching the port of Wyk upon Föhr and coming from Dagebuell, was in collision with the working ship "Krake" which was just departing from Wyk. The collision may have been caused by dense fog. Both ships were damaged, but able to enter the port of Wyk after the accident with own power. The damage was investigated. No pollution reported.

About 170 travellers had to spend the night of Sep 16, 2010, aboard the ferry "Rungholt" which got stuck at Dagebuell due to a storm with gusts of 12 bf. The Red Cross equipped the ship with emergency beds and blankets for this purpose. Ferry service to Foehr and Amrum was resumed on Sep 16.
