Repairs of propulsion damage in Brest
The 'Nikolay Yevgenov' which had suffered damages to its azipod on Jan 16m 2021, when the vessel approached the Bering Strait, has arrived at the Damen Shipyard in Brest on Feb 25 for repairs to its propulsion system. It remained stationary as of March 4.
Azipod damage in Arctic waters
On Jan 16, 2021, the 'Nikolay Yevgenov' with an LNG shipment from Sabetta, Yamal, Russia, bound for Tinajin, suffered a damage to one of its three azipods whiöe transiting the Northern Sea Route, Russian Arctic, in the wake of the LNG tanker 'Christophe de Margerie'. Both tankers were underway without icebreaker assistance. After having sailed with a speed of about 9 knots all the way from Sabetta, the tanker suddenly slowed down to 3 knots. The ship will have to undergo repairs after offloading its cargo upon its arrival probably on Jan 28, 2021.
