Accident during lightering operation
In the morning of July 5 the Elefsina Port Authority was informed that during the transhipment of the wheat cargo from the "New Gemini" onto the "Sfax" an accident with a crane of the latter occurred. The crane was damaged, the grab dropped and railings on the "New Gemini" were affected too. No one was injured. The Elefsina Central Port Authority launched a preliminary investigation and detained both ships until repairs were carried out an class surveys conducted. The ship arrived at Ambelaki on Aug 6 and sailed on Oct 18, bound to Salamis.
Cargo ship shifted to Eleusis
The "New Gemini" which had a technical malfunction with a cargo of 5.200 tons cereals bound to Tunisia and 12 crew members on board in the area of Akrotiri on Feb 9 and which was moored at Ampelaika North on Feb 10, left Ampelaika again on July 2 at 3.25 p.m. and headed to Eleusis, where she moored alongside the Tunisian cargo m/v "Sfax" (IMO: 9442213) at 5 p.m.
Mechanical faulure in Laconia region
In the evening of Feb 9, 2018, the Port Authority of Neapolis and Monemvasia was informed about a technical malfunction of the "New Gemini" with 12 crew members on board in the area of Akrotiri. A patrol boat as well as the tug "Christos XXXIV" were deployed to tow the vessel into the port of Piraeus. The ship was moored at Ampelaika North on Feb 10 at 12.25 p.m. The "New Gemini" was bound from Novorossiysk to a port in Tunisia, loaded with 5200 tons cereals.
