Ship breached in grounding on the Neva
On May 28, 2017, the "Nevskiy 4" touched the bottom on the Neva river at km mark 1314 in the Koshkinsky fairway on the Ladoga Lake. The ship suffered breaches between the bow and midship ballast tanks 12 and 22 with ensuing water ingress. The damages caused a list of six degrees to starboard and the vessel was in danger of sinking. The skipper decided to head directly to the shallow at km mark 1319 where the ship was intentionally grounded. The owner asked two bulkers to assist with cargo transfer. The crew of nine was safe. The vessel was loaded with 3,275 ton of macadam bound from Shcheleiks to St. Petersburg for construction works at the Sinopskaya embankment.
