Rescue operation after water ingress
The "Nestor" requested pump assistance on Nov 23, 2012, at 20.35 p.m. after having suffered water ingress 100 km north of Borkum. The MRCC Den Helder contacted the colleagues of the MRCC in Bremen which tasked the lifeboat "Alfried Krupp" of the DGzRS-station Borkum and a rescue helicopter. When the "Nestor" was contacted at 9.50 p.m. the crew had been able to cope with the flooding and refused help. The ship set course to Den Helder . To avoid any risk, the master was advised to head for Borkum instead. The rescue operation was, however, stopped after at 10.20 p.m. the master of the "Nestor" radioed that the situation was completely under control now. The Coastguard Den Helder advised the master to keep in regular radio contact and give the shio's postion. The police and Koninklijke Marechaussee (Royal Military Police) were informed accordingly. On Nov 24 at 11 a.m. the ship was expected at Den Helder.
