Nessie floating again

Thu Feb 19 11:24:35 CET 2015 Timsen

On Feb 18 the "Nessie" managed to refloat from the shoal and entered Norrsundet with own power on Feb 18. Divers of the Coastguard surveyed the hull but only found small dents. The police launched an investigation. The "KBV 202" returned to Gävle. Grounding off Norrsundet

Wed Feb 18 11:44:26 CET 2015 Timsen

The "Nessie" veered off course on autopilot north of Gävle and ran aground off Norrsundet in the evening of Feb 17, 2015. The ship had on board 240 tons of fish and 800 liters of diesel and 200 liters of oil lubricants. The aircraft KBV 503 made a surveillance flight. Since there was no leakage or other damage to the ship, it was to unload the fish onto two other fishing boast, and it was estimated that the ship would be able to slide off the ground with own means. The weather on scene was calm. As the process of unloading has been delayed, it was wait until daylight on Feb 18. At 8.20 a.m. pumping over the load to another boat was started. It was anticipated that the pumping would take between one to two hours. The work was being monitored by the "KBV 202" of the Swedish Coastguard.
