Barge grounded on the Weser
On Nov 28, 2012, around 3 p.m. the "Neptun" ran onto a sandbar coming from Minden at Marklohe. The currents pushed the ship around 180 degrees and it came to rest at the shore so that passing ship traffic was only slightly hampered. The ship which was loaded with 1000 tons gravel had to be pulled off by a dredger of the shipping authority Nienburg. The ship was detained and not allowed to proceed to Oldenburg due to unsuitable dquipment aboard the vessel and a lack of knowledge of the German language of the Polish master who had to pay a fine of 1000 Euro and the same amount for the salvage work. Grounding at Hutbergen
In the foremidday hours of Feb 26, 2012, the "Neptun" enroute Terneuzen-Bremen with more than 1000 tons cement came perpendicular to the Weser fairway at Hutbergen. A combination of too much speed and low water level caused the ship to veer off course in a curve near a gravel plant and it got stuck on the shore. Another ship was abl to pull of the vessel one hour later. Unloading the 700 so ca-called big packs would have taken considerable time. The salvage was supporting by closing the Weser barrier in Intschede to get a higher water level at Hutbergen. After the ship was refloated it was ordered to the nearest mooring for surveys. The captain was drug tested with negativ result, and there was no significant damage.
