Ship refloated after lightering
The 'Nazmehr', which ran aground in the vicinity of pos. 44 58 31 N, 047 47 42 E, at kilometer mark 170 of the Volga-Caspian Sea Ship Canal on Feb 25, was refloated the evening of May 9 and was now heading to the port of destination in the Iran. The salvage only could be carried out after a floating crane and other vessels had lightered the cargo.
Grounding on Volga-Caspian Sea Canal
The 'Nazmehr' with 12 crew members on board ran aground on the Volga–Caspian Sea Caal east of the buoys NN 17, 15, near kilometer 170 in vicinity 44 58 31 N, 047 47 42 E in the evening of Feb 25, 2023, en route to Astrakhan, with a cargo of 1.500 tons salt and six trucks on board. The ship suffered a hull breach and remained aground as of Fev 26. There were no reported injuries and no threat of flooding. The navigation on the canal was not affected.
Three Iranian sailors rescued from a ship died in Azerbaijan after mass poisoning
The crew of the "Nazmehr" on Oct 18. 2018, requested urgent aid due to mass poisoning. The vessel was 21 miles off Pirallahi island en route from Aktau to Baku. A guard vessel of the Border Service was dispatched to aid despite unfavorable weather conditions and approached the cargo ship at 12.30 a.m. Seven crew members were found in critical condition. After rendering first medical assistance, the ship headed towards Absheron port. Medical brigades were dispatched for assistance. The injured were hospitalized, but three of the seven Iranian sailors died there. The other four were currently under the supervision of doctors,
