Nautic 1 raised
On Dec 29 the "Nautic 1" was raised by a sheerleg from Duisburg. Within 11 hours Mammoet Maritim drained the ship and pulled it back to the surface. A salvage team of 17 was on scene. Whether material failure or wrong cargo distribution caused the ship to sink was still unclear. The "Nautic 1" was to be stablized so far that it could be pulled out of Grimberg port. Mammoet contracted for salvage
After Mammoet Salvage was contracted with the removal of the wreck on Dec 23, the sheerleg "Atlas" was pushed to the sinking site of the "Nautic 1" in Gelsenkirchen by the tug "Büffel" in order to raise the wreck of the "Nautic 1" probably on Dec 30. A part of the slag was dredged out of the 1100-tons-cargo holds. Pollutants were removed and a scaffolding fixed at the hull on Dec 26, to which the "Atlas" will be connected in order to raise it. Pollutants removed in Gelsenkirchen
The salvage of the Dutch Nautic 1", 1185 ts (EU-No.: 02324414; MMSI-No.: 244710366), was due to start on Dec Dec 27. First the 400 tons slag will have to be removed from the cargo hold by a dredger. The cause of the accident was still unclear and getting investigated. The small amounts of fuel, hydraulich fuel, oil sludge and other pollutants were removed by a contracted company on Dec 22.
