Barge grounded on the Weser
The German flagged, self propelled barge "Polaris", 1392 ts (EU-No.: 04805260), was disabled by a chain which wrapped around the rudder on the Weser at river km 207 in the morning of Aug 5, 2018. The ship ran aground at the river shore and drifted perpendicular to the fairway. Attempts to pull the ship around with wires from the shore failed. The tug "Flut" of the river authority was called and managed to pull the barge off the bottom. It was then towed into the port of Minden for inspections and repairs where it was safely berthed at 4 p.m. German report with photo: https://www.mt.de/lokales/minden/22208996_Grossmotorgueterschiff-faehrt-sich-auf-Weser-fest.html
