Inquiry in allision
The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has ordered an inquiry into the allision of the "CMA CGM Mumbai" its fourth container terminal, Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal Private Ltd (BMCTPL), managed by Port of Singapore Authority on Oct 13. The vessel which arrived from Karachi made contact with the BMCTPL’s jetty at 252 metres chainage mark, which caused damage to the jetty and the bow of the ship. Container ship struck quay
The "CMA CGM Mumbai" allided with the quay while docking at Mumbai Jawaharlal Nehru Port on Oct 13, 2018, at 8 a.m. upon its arrival from Karachi. The ship sailed head on into the quay inspite of an attempt to stop it by emergency anchoring. Both the quay and the ship suffered damage. Video: https://youtu.be/HJw2WfSOkQs
Seaspan Accepts Delivery of Third 10000 TEU SAVER Containership in Four Ship Series
Seaspan Corporation announced today that it has accepted delivery of the CMA CGM Mumbai, a 10000 TEU containership that will commence a fixed rate time charter with CMA CGM S.A. (“CMA CGM”) for a three year term with an option to extend for an additional three years. The new containership, which was constructed at Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., is the third in a series of four 10000 TEU vessels under time charter to CMA CGM that are scheduled to deliver in the first half of 2018.
