Search for passenger who jumped over board suspended

Wed Aug 29 13:17:30 CEST 2018 Timsen

A man has jumped overboard the "St. Cecilia" on Aug 29, 2018, at 10.30 a.m. in the Solent, sparking rescue teams to try and find him.More than ten agencies were involved in the search for the man. The ferry was enroute from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and was just outside Portsmouth Harbour at the time of the incident. The crew of the "St. Cecilia" deployed the ship’s rescue boat and the Coastguard was now the lead authority on this matter, with a number of vessels assisting in the search. The "St. Cecilia" was still in the area of the incident while authorities were trying to recover the person, with customers on board. The SAR operation was carried out by means including the coastguard towers, a navy vessel, the Portsmouth inshore lifeboat and Bembridge lifeboat crews. The search was suspended after four hours at 3 p.m. Report with photos: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/breaking-portsmouth-ferry-rescue-passenger-13158296
