No drugs found in cargo
After an extra check by the police, it turned out that there were no drugs in the containers of the 'Hoop'. On Aug 13 the ship was ordered to Flushing for a major investigation. The police opened the containers to see what's inside. They had previously checked the containers with X-ray equipment. Both studies have not yielded drug-related results. The crew members wree therefore no longer suspects in this case. The containers were linked to a company that came to light in a raid in early July as part of the large-scale drug operation Portunus. The drug crystal meth had been produced at that company. The police indicated that they were still investigating the case, but the containers were returned onto the ship which was en route from Las Palmas to Hansweert.
Hoop searched for drugs
In the inner port of Flushing the police and customs investigated the 'Hoop' for the presence of drugs. The ship had been summoned by the North Sea police to sail to the port on Aug 13, 2020. Containers were removed from the deck with a crane, which were checked by an X-ray vehicle from customs on the Visserijkade. The 'Hoop' had come from the port of Las Palmas and was destined to the port of Hansweert. The surrounding area was closed. The National Police Unit was involved in the inspection. On Aug 14 at 6.50 a.m. the ship left the port and arrived in Hansweert at 9 a.m. Dutch report with photos: https://www.omroepzeeland.nl/nieuws/121776/Schip-in-Vlissingse-haven-gecontroleerd-op-drugs-gewapende-politie-paraat
