Six tons cocaine seized
The 'Najlan' was intercepted, boarded and searched by the 'Dixmude (L9015)' on March 21, 2021, in the Gulf of Guinea with the agreement of the flag State Saint Kitts and Nevis, according to the procedure of the article 17 of the United Nations Convention to Combat Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. Within short time more than six tons of cocaine were found. The ship had been monitored since it left the port of Rio de Janeiro on March 5, bound for Abijan. The large-scale operation was carried out on the basis of information transmitted by the French anti-narcotics office (OFAST) and the Dutch police, in collaboration with the operational center for maritime intelligence analysis for narcotics (MAOC-N), an agency international based in Lisbon, the European Police Office (EUROPOL) and the Brazilian authorities. The ship resumed its voyage with an ETA at Abijan as of March 23. The investigation was continued.
