Technical failure in Samsun

Wed Aug 14 10:14:01 CEST 2019 Timsen

The "Amazon" suffered a technical failure in the engine room's fire-fighting system at Samsun on Aug 9, 2019. Repairs were subsequently carried out by the crew, together with shore-based support. Later, the port master surveyor panel attended the vessel and verified the final status of repairs and granted departure permission. The "Amazon" sailed from Samsun on Aug 10, bound for Tuapse, where it arrived on Aug 12 at 7.15 a.m.

Flag of embargo breaker suspended

Thu May 30 18:09:28 CEST 2019 Timsen

The Moldovan flag of the "Amazon" which was pinpointed in carrying military equipment to Tripoli from Turkey, such as armoured vehicles, was suspended after Moldova Maritime Authorities received information on the transportation in violation of the international sanctions imposed on arms trade with war-torn Libya. The ship had carried more than a dozen BMC Kirpi II mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles to Tripoli port on May 18. She left Tripoli on May 20 and returned to Samsun on May 27. As of May 29, she was still showing the Moldovan flag.

Cargo ship loaded with Turkish military vehicles arrived in Tripoli

Mon May 20 21:03:22 CEST 2019 Timsen

A coalition of forces allied with Libya’s UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA), some of which face UN sanctions, received a shipment of Turkish armored vehicles and arms on May 18, 2019, which was carried by the "Amazon". The shipment arrived amid the GNA’s efforts to stop the Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Khalifa Haftar, from advancing toward the capital, Tripoli. Dozens of Turkish-made BMC Kirpi armored vehicles were discharged in Tripoli port. The vessel had sailed from Samsun.
