Oil spill during bunkering

Tue Mar 10 10:38:05 CET 2020 Timsen

In the morning of March 9, 2020, an oil pollution was detected by the Thessaloniki Port Authority, in the port area at quay 11. It was found out that it was caused by the 'NACC Sirios' during bunkering operations. About 50 liters of marine fuel oil were spilled. The Port Authority immediately informed the master and the ship owner and took all necessary measures to address and counteract the pollution. A floating barrier and absorbent materials were laid out by a contracted anti pollution company. The master of the vessel was interrogated by the Port Authority in the frame of a pre-trial investigation. On March 10 at 7.50 a.m. the cement carrier left the port, headed to Marghera.
