Bulk carrier attacked by Houthi terrorists

The 'Seaguardian' came under attack of Houthi terrorists about 82 nautical miles northwest of Al Hudaydah on June 13, 2024. The bulk carrier was en route from Novorossyisk to Port Said. The captain reported an explosion close to the vessel. No casualties were reported, and the vessel continued sailing towards its next port call.

Vessel found guilty for dirty water discharge and fined

Aboard the 'Seaguardian; while she was en route from Constantza to Bandirma, samples were collected at Istanbul anchorage by the local municipality environmental pollution prevention department together with Coastal Safety technical teams on March 1, 2020. An investigation file was opened by the local authority. Collected samples were sent to technical university laboratory in order to carry out match up analysis between samples that were taken. A Letter of Guarantee was issued by th eP&I club's local correspondent on behalf of the owners. Subsequently, the departure permission was issued by Harbour Master upon completion of the formalities relating to the receipt of Letter of undertaking (LOU). On further analysis, it was found that the vessel was guilty due to dirty water discharge, and a fine of 386,500 US dollars was imposed due to a breach of local regulations as per Marpol rules. The payment ofthe fine is expected to be made by vessel's local agent, on behalf of owners. LOU will be issued upon completion of fine payment and related formalities.
