Lost container traced and marked
On Feb 24, 2014, the maritime prefecture of the Atlantic carried out the marking of a container drifting eight miles off the Ile d'Yeu. The container was lost from the "Discovery Bay" among 14 more on Feb 8 while the reefer was enroute from Santa Marta to Flushing where it docked on Feb 10. A Dauphin helicopter of the Navy Base in La Rochelle with a CEPPOL team on board was dispatched from the Naval Air Station Lann Bihoué. The magnetic marker was set up at 3:00 p.m. ET which allowed to follow the drift in real time. The recovery of the container would take place as soon as weather conditions were favorable. Following a spell at Dover from Feb 13 to 14, the ship remained in the Waal Port Rotterdam from Feb 14 to Feb 18 before setting sail again bound to Willemstad.
