Abducted crew members released
According to a report, dated Jan 5, 2019, two Ukrainian sailors, who were crew members of the bunker tanker "Anuket Amber" and the "Ark Tze" were released by pirates, who had been abducted by pirates on Oct 29, 2018, off Pointe Noire, Congo. This information was officially confirmed by the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was expected that the released crew members will be repatriated in the coming days.
Supply tug used as pirate mother ship
After pirates attacked and hijacked the "Ark Tze", they used the ship as their mother ship and attacked two tankers in the process of bunkering. The LPG tanker "BW Frigg" (IMO: 9733337) broke off its moorings and managed to escape, while the "Anuket Amber" was boarded and hijacked. The plan was to siphon fuel from the "Anuket Ambor" into a local coaster, but that ship being captured by some other forces, pirates couldn’t steal the cargo. So they decided to kidnap the crew instead. When the tanker was released and reached Lome, the remaining crew were restricted in their communications via Internet. Release talks regarging the 12 kidnapped seamen, eight from the "Anuket Amber" and four from the "Ark Tze" were going on.
Offshore ship attacked by pirates
On Oct 29, 2018, pirates attacked the "Ark Tze" and kidnapped four crew members. The hostages were later transferred to hijacked tanker "Anuket Amber". This had been attacked in pos. 04 47S 010 07E, west of Pointe Noire.
