Grounded ship abandoned
The 'Muzah' ran aground at the coast of Jazirat As Sawdah island within the Khuriya Muriya islands, east of Salalah on May 23, 2021. The hull was breached in the engine room area, which was flooded. The vessel issued a distress signal, and the Royal Oman Air Force scrambled helicopters and evacuated all 12 crew members, consisting of six Syrians and six Indians. The "Rania H" suffered mechanical failure while transiting the Bosphorus in southern directionon Sep 6, 2012, around midday in the Buykudere area. The vessel was anchored off Buyukdere. It was en route from Constanta to Bandirma.
Peel Ports Buys Bigger Vessel for Manchester Canal Service
Peel Ports in the U.K. has invested in a larger vessel for its Manchester Ship Canal container service. The Coastal Deniz has a 260 20-foot-equivalent unit capacity, which is a more than 60 percent increase in capacity compared with the previous vessel used. The vessel will make up to four sailings a week between the Port of Liverpool’s Seaforth container terminal in England and Irlam Container Terminal near Trafford Park in Manchester, England. The service also makes calls en route at Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, England. “The Deniz will move in the region of 20,000 containers in 2013,” said Stephen Carr, head of business development at Peel Ports, in a written statement.
