Allision in port of Barranquilla
The "Murueta" allided with a quay while berthing at Barranquilla in the Magdalena Dapartment on Jan 16, 2019, at 11.40 a.m. The ship struck the quay with its portside bow despite tug assistance. The anchor broke in two and was torn off when hitting and damaging a bollard before the ship could be stopped with damage to its port side foreship. Also the port structure suffered significant damage. The ship had arrived at the Palermo Sociedad Portuaria Multi-Purpose Terminal, coming from Bonaire with a cargo of 7.297 tons salt destined for the port of Point Lisas in Trinidad/Tobago. The Gerneal Maritime Directorate through the Captaincy of the port of Barranquella launched an investigation.
