A man who boarded a Malaysian logging ship during an anti-logging protest in Hobart has been taken into custody. Protesters held up the loading of the ship for eight hours as they locked themselves to different parts of the vessel. Two climbed about 45 metres up crane cables and police had to use another crane to bring them down. Huon Valley Environment Centre spokeswoman Jenny Weber said 14 forest activists forced their way onto Malaysian ship Muroran at about 5am (AEST) on Saturday. "The ship was loaded with veneer sourced from high-conservation-value forests in Tasmania," Ms Weber said. "Today's blockade by forest defenders was to highlight (Malaysian-based company) Ta Ann's poor environment record here in Tasmania.
