MUREEN 9257474

Tue May 18 10:39:15 CEST 2010 Timsen

On May 14, 2010, at 10.30 p.m. the Antigua-Barbuda-flagged cargo m/v "Hestia" was in collision with the 1325 ts-barge of the "Mureen" off the Kreekra-lock at Reimerswaal. The “Hestia” which had just left the lock bound for Antwerp veered to prt and crashed into the barge. The vessel thereby suffered a 5 metre long hole in its port side bow between anchor and bowthruster. The Dutch authorities started investigations against the Tchetchenian captain due to bad seamanship as he did not kept a proper lookout and the wheelhouse was lowered too much so he could not remark the “Mureen” and the barge which carried containers in two layers on deck in time. The “Mureen” proceeded to Rotterdam on May 15 at 4 a.m. and actually remains there. The “Hestia” berthed at Antwerp Shiprepair on May 17 at 5.55 a.m.
