Ship with 15 infected quarantined
After 15 crew members contracted the virus, the 'MTM Soutport' was quarantined in Vila Velha. It has been moored since July 28 at the port of Kapupa, in the city of Espiritu Santo in Vila Velha. All 22 people on board the ship have been isolated and will remain in quarantine for 14 days. Among the infected, two were taken to hospital in Vitoria. The Espiritu Santo Health Department (Sesa), was monitoring the situation along with the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). The ship came from the Philippines. All people on board had a RT-PCR test on the day they arrived in the state. There was still no information about the variants that infected the crew. A investigation will be conducted for strains from South Africa, the United Kingdom and India.
14 crew members tested positive for Covid 19, two hospitalized
Two of the 23 crew members of the 'MTM Southport' with Covid-19 symptoms were disembarked at the port of Santos for medical assistance in hospital on July 27, 2021. The ship was moored in the anchorage area of the Santos pier, where it wasquarantined. 14 crew members had tested positive for the disease and isolated on board. The vessel entered quarantine on July 24. The vessel is loaded with barrels of ethanol and is anchored in Barra de Santos. It had arrived at the Santos pier on July 20, coming from the port of Salvador, Bahia.
