Tanker broke in two, nine crew members dead or missing

Up to nine crew members of the "Good Success Tank" (IMO: 8681460) were killed in the collision with the "Elixir" early in the morning of Oct 19, 2015, 65 miles from the shore and 10 nautical miles south west of the Bonga FPSO near Warri in pos. 04 degrees 27 degrees North 004 degrees 27 degree East. One body and three survivors were recovered from the waters immediately following the incident off the coast of Warri in Nigeria’s Delta State. The "Elixir" which had suffered damage to the bulbous bow was detained by the Nigerian authoritieswhile the incident was under Investigation. The stern of the tank barge sank on a water depth of 1500 meters, the forebody was still drifting in the sea. The Nigerian navy has deployed two combat vessels from the Central Naval Command, Bayelsa State, to clear the ships from the point of the accident. The Nigerian crew members onboard the "Tank" were Kulo Eddy Osang, Arerebo Arepade Clifford, Finecountry Timipouadeh, Akindele Akinbanjon, Odafe E. Offeh, Magaji Joshua, Isaac Kojo Money and Salami Malcolm. Others were Ejila Philip, Moses Apobowei and Sambo M. The three rescued crewmembers were receiving treatment at Twins Clinic Warri at the behest of NIMASA while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary.
