The US Coast Guard medevaced a man who was located on a disabled sailing vessel on Apr 2, 2015, approximately 200 miles off the North Carolina coast. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard 5th District Command Center in Portsmouth received notification from the "Houston Express" at approximately 1:30 p.m., indicating they spotted a man and the vessel approximately 200 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and took him aboard. A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, at approximately 3:40 p.m. The helicopter crew met the Houston Express, hoisted the man and transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, arriving at approximately 7:30 p.m. The man, 37-year-old Louis Jordan and the sailing vessel "Angel", were initially reported missing by his family to the Coast Guard Jan. 29. The crew of a containership helped rescue a man from his disabled sailboat off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina more than 60 days after he was reported missing. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the Coast Guard 5th District Command Center in Portsmouth, Virginia received notification from the 1,085-foot German-flagged MV Houston Express that they spotted a man aboard a disabled boat approximately 200 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, and took him aboard. A helicopter crew launched from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina at approximately 3:40 p.m to meet the Houston Express. Once on scene they hoisted the man and transported him Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk. Medevac off Virginia Beach

The US Coast Guard medevaced an ailing crewman from the "Houston Express" approximately 25 miles east of Virginia Beach on Feb 27, 2015. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard 5th District Command Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, received a report Thursday at about 4:35 p.m. from the "Houston Express", stating a male crewman was suffering from abdominal pain approximately 345 miles east of Virginia Beach. To enable a medevac, the "Houston Express", en route to France, changed course toward Virginia to meet with a Coast Guard helicopter crew. A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, around dawn on Friday. The aircrew met with Houston Express about 25 miles east of Virgina Beach at approximately 7:15 a.m., hoisted the man and took him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk where he is reported in stable condition.
