Container ship disabled off Le Havre
The "Thira" suffered engine failure in the early morning of Feb 18, 2018, shortly after leaving Le Havre bound to Antwerp. The ship dropped anchor northwest of Le Havre. On Feb 20 the French MRCC sent a helicopter with technicians team to assess the damage and condition of the ship. It was found out, that there was no danger to the ship nor did it pose a navigations hazard. The crew was waiting for spare parts required for repairs to arrive. The ship proceeded to Antwerp on Feb 26 and docked at the Antwerp Shiprepair on Feb 27 at 6.50 a.m. for repairs. She left the Antwerp Shiprepair on March 10 at 7.15 p.m. and headed to Sines, ETA March 14, 1 p.m.
Goldenport offloads containership for $6.85m
London: Greek dry bulk and small containership owner Goldenport Holdings has sold 2,113 teu containership Thira (28,370 dwt, built 1997) for $6.85m. The vessel was sold to BSL Thira Shipping which indicates Balaji Shipping, part of the Transworld Group, as the likely new owner. It is scheduled for delivery today, July 21.
