The 'MSC Fabienne' arrived at the anchorage off Brest on Feb 23 at 02.45 a.m. Following the intervention of a service team, the vessel sailed from Brest at 5.30 p.m., bound for Gebze with an ETA as of March 1.

MSC Fabienne under tow to Brest

Sat Feb 22 20:56:37 CET 2020 Timsen

The 'MSC Fabienne' on Feb 20, 2020, informed the CROSS Corsen of a propulsion failure within the traffic separation scheme off Ouessant. The ship was enroute from Antwerp to Gebze with a cargo of 1.178 containers at that time. The Maritime Prefect of the Atlantic sent the emergency tug 'Abeille Bourbon' to the vessel to monitor its drift. On February 21 he gave notice to the shipowner to take all measures to put an end to the danger posed by the 'MSC Fabienne' to navigation and the environment. The container ship was then located less than 10 nautical miles from the first shallows north of Sept-Îles. While waiting for a spare part to repair the damage, the owner signed a private contract with the owner of the 'Abeilles Bourbon' in order to tow the 'MSC Fabienne'. At 3.35 p.m. a towing connection was established, and the convoy was due to arrive in Brest in the evening of Feb 22.
