Container ship troubled on Wester Scheldt
The "MSC Arushi R" suffered engine trouble on the Wester Scheldt near Hansweert on Oct 17, 2018, around midday, after having sailed from Antwerp short time before. The ship drifted perpendicular to the fairway. The tugs "Bravo", "Multratug 28", "Multratug 29", "Union Panda", "Union Emerald" and "Union 6" were deployed to assist. The "Bravo", "Multratug 28" and "Multratug 29" were first on scene, but were released immediately as the assistance of the "Union 6" and "Union Panda" was accepted. They were joined by the "Union Emerald" after the ship had anchored. The crew started working to resolve the problem. At 6.15 p.m. the ship regained speed and headed to Wilhelmshaven, ETA Oct 18. It was still escorted by the "RWS 78" of Rijkswaterstaat" and the tugs "Union 6" and "Union Emerald" for a while.
