Under way after calling Petropavlovsk
Car carrier Morning Spruce made quite a fuss in US media, when it stuck in the North Pacific due to some mechanical or engine trouble. Media assumed disabled vessel was drifting in Okhotsk sea, maybe because it was so exotic? Vessel was reported to be drifting on May 27 13, according to marinetraffic.com. According to Satellite AIS, vessel got disabled long before May 27 in the Pacific off Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy port, on a usual route for vessels sailing from Asia to US Western Coast, and had to call Petropavlovsk either under own power, or with the help of tow, apparently for repairs, see the map. As of May 29 morning, Morning Spruce is under way sailing at full speed at destination port of San Diego, with 61 much expected Hyundai's most high-end sedan Equus on board. Those sedans actually, were the reason why US media was tracking car carrier, and got so excited over its trouble.
Car carrier adrift in Sea of Okhotsk
The "Morning Spruce" with the first 61 examples of the luxury Sedan has lost engine power in the western Pacific Ocean, and was adrift. The ship has apparently been without power for several days and was floating in the Sea of Okhotsk. It wasn't clear when it would be repaired or reach US shores to discharge its contents. As a result of the incident, Hyundai has reportedly had to reschedule some of its planned marketing efforts for the new model.
