Three missing after collision in Pearl River estuary
On March 28, 2018, at 6.12 p.m. the cargo m/v "Chen Chang 332" (IMO: 8974568) was in collision with the "Morning Cherry" in the Pearl Rivery estuary fairway. The cargo ship with 3.500 tons of sand on board sank. While nine were rescued, three more went missing, An SAR operation was launched by the Guangzhou Maritime Safety Administration. The vehicles carrier with 2.201 cars on board had left Guangzhou bound for Gunsan at 11 a.m., the cargo ship was undereay from Shenzehen to Dongguan. It dropped anchor at the Nansha anchorage off Guangzhou with only slight damages near the collision site.
