Medevac off Flushing
The KNRM lifeboat of Breskens has medevaced a crew member from the "Slavyanka" in the afternoon of July 3, 2017. The bulkcarrier dropped anchor on the Wester Scheldt and on the way to Teesport after the man became unwell and complained about chest pain. The Dutch Coast Guard contacted the Radio Medical Service, and the attending physician determined that the man had to be evacuated to a hospital. The Dutch Coast Guard immediately alerted Breskens lifeboat. An ambulance was arranged to go to the Poseidon Pier in Flushing. The lifeboat "Zeemanshoop" picked up the ambulance staff first before the course wass set towards the bulk carrier. Two crew members and two ambulance staff entered the ship, and after a medical check it was decided that the man would have to be treated hospital as soon as possible. Fortunately he was able to walk. Over the ship's gangway, he was carefully taken on board the lifeboat which quickly heading to Flushing's outer port where the sailor was transferred to the ambulance for transport to the Goes hospital. Body found at Sao Paulo could be missing crew member
The unidentified decomposed body of a man was found near San Paulo on Aug 10, 2016. The policed believe it was the corpse of a Bulgarian sailor from the "Slavyanka". The vessel had reported a man lost overboard on Aug 2, while en route to Paranagua. At the time of an accident she was anchored on outer Paranagua anchorage, waiting for a berth. The body fitted the description of the lost man, though it needed verification as on July 29 a local fishing boat was lost in the area, and several fishermen went missing and haven't been found yet.
