Grounding off Harstad

In the afternoon of Dec 11, 2015, the "Mona" ran aground between Grytøy and Sandsøy off Bjarkøy just outside Harstad. The ship was stuck on a sand bank. The ship was on the way to a berth at Bjarkøy. With the high tide at midnight a refloating attempt will be undertaken. The Coastguard vessel "NSO Crusader" (IMO: 8224470) was on site for this purpose. After attempts to pull the "Mona" off failed in the early morning of Dec 12, the "BB Worker" was called in and refloated the ship at 12.30 a.m. It berthed at the quay of the Sjøfisk AS in Bjarkøya in the afternoon. The "Mona" was being used to transport rocks to Sandsøy Sound in connection with the construction of a bridge to be built between Grytøy and Sandsøy.
