One crew member kidnapped in Gulf of Guinea
The 'Minerva Virgo' was attacked on March 5, 2020, around 3 p.m. in pos. 05 36.0N 002 20.4E , 45 miles south of Cotonou, Benin, in the Gulf of Guinea. Half a dozen gunmen boarded the vessel. The crew retreated into the citadel, but one Filipino crew member didn't make it and was captured. As of 6 p.m. the ship was drifting NUC with AIS on. A patrol boat was approaching the tanker from Benin. It turned out that 22 crew members were safe. The ship was en route from Ijmuiden to Lagos.
