Complaint filed against captain and shipping company
The Maritime Services Agency has submitted a complaint against the captain and the shipping company of the 'Minerva Oceania' which is quarantined in the Leopold dock of Antwerp until at least July 4. 15 of the 26 crew members of the ship tested positive for Covid-19. The situation was being evaluated to see if a possible departure can take place in a week. The Agency for Maritime Services and Coast (MDK) has filed a complaint against the captain and the shipping company doubting that the captain's health declaration has been completed in good faith. judicial investigation will clarify what exactly went wrong. According to Cor Radings, spokesman for shipping company Minerva, the captain made a report in time when the first symptoms appeared. That was the day after the pilots disembarked. According to him, Saniport, the sanitary police for international traffic, also considered it a timely report.
Two pilots quarantined, one infected too
A pilot who guided the 'Minerva Oceania' to the port of Antwerp appears to have been infected with the corona virus too, the Agency for Maritime Services and Coast reported. The ship has been quarantined in the Leopold dock because 15 of the 26 crew members have tested positive for COVID-19. However, when the pilot came on the ship, the outbreak was not yet known. All colleagues with whom the pilot has been in contact have been personally informed and will also stay at home preventively. There were still enough pilots working and that there is therefore no impact on shipping traffic to and from the port. A second pilot also was on the ship but had no symptoms for the time being. Like his colleague who tested positive, he remains in home quarantine for two weeks.
