Damaged dredger drydocked

Wed Mar 14 09:37:49 CET 2012 Timsen

The damaged "Vlaanderen 1" was drydocked at the Scheepswerf Reimerswaal in the evening of Mar 13, being assisted by the tugs "Charlie" and "Foxtrot" of Polderman Berging. The "Zeebrugge II" supported the transit with an oil boom which was carried along as a precaution. The damaged port side had been lifted by taking on board additional ballast on starboard side. Collision on the Wester Scheldt

Mon Mar 12 08:57:16 CET 2012 Timsen

On Mar 10, 2012, the "Vlaanderen 1" was in collision with the "Trina" in the Nauw van Bath on the Wester Scheldt at 4.15 p.m. Tugs of Multraship from Terneuzen and the Unie van Redding- en Sleepdienst rushed to the scene to assist. While the "Trina" remained undamaged and proceeded to Anwerp, the "Vlaanderen 1" suffered some damage. The dredger proceeded to Hansweert. A small amount of oil leaked out, but could be rescovered by two anti pollution vessels. An investigation was launched, and fog may have contributed to the accident.
