Collision off British coast
After a collision off the British coast the "Calypso - Z 84" limped back to its homeport Zeebrugge. The accident happened in the morning of Dec 20, 2011. A Greek tanker ran into the ship which suffered significant damage at the foreship which was flooded. The crew of five which was on deck hauling in a catch was not hurt when the ship was heeling heavily and threatened to capsize. The ship returned to Zeebrugge with slow speed and moored in the European Fish Centre on Dec 21 at 6.15 p.m. Dutch report with photo: http://kw.knack.be/west-vlaanderen/nieuws/algemeen/zeebrugse-bokkentreiler-geramd-door-griekse-tanker/article-4000021441825.htm

The "Mooie Meid" which capsized off the French coast on Mar 1, had turned three times around its axis before the accident, the technical inspection now has revealed. Just before the capsizing, there were problems with the rudder. Probably there was no one in the wheelhouse who could have intervened and stopped the turning. The ship was then stuck in the nets and capsized due to instability. The crew, which seems not to have been aware of the situation, sent no distress signal and drowned. Moreover, the weather was very bad at the time of the accident.
