Yacht smashed on rocks

The Helimer 206 rescued the crew of two of the "Metis II“ which had run aground on Jan 24, 2017, at 5.30 a.m. at Güimar The MRCC in Teneriffa coordinated the rescue operation for the yacht which had sailed in the morning fromEl Socorro (Güimar). The lifeboat “Salvamar Tenerife” as well as the Helimer 206 were mobilized. The yacht crew reported water ingress and could not escape into the life raft which was threatened to drift onto the nearby rocks. The yachtsmen were hoisted and taken to the airport Tenerife south. The "Salvamar Tenerife” was monitoring the yacht which was pounded by the surf and was half submerged with heavy list in the bay of Punta del Socorr.
