Passenger ship suffered water ingress
On June 9, 2018 at 6.30 p.m. the master of the "Merian" remarked trouble with the ship's electronic on the Neckarupon entering the lock in Schwabenheim. During a control of the engine room he found a breach of 10 centimeters length underneath the propulsion shaft with ensuing water ingress. About five tons water had entered the engine room. The 51 passengers were disembarked in the lock and taken on with a coach. Divers of fire fire brigade and the DLRG tried to find the leak in the hull and patch it. Most of the water could be pumped out inside the lock chamber. The water police Heidelberg launched an investigation. The ship was to be repaired in Neckarsteinach on June 11.
