Ferry master was intoxicated with 3-4 per thousand
A former master of the Kiel-Canal-ferry "Memel" who was found to have navigated the ferry with a glas of red wine in his hands was fined on Sep 14 to pay 1200 Euro by the court in Rendsburg. Passengers of the ship had alarmed the police as they suspected the Portuguese man to be drunk after a hard landing of the ferry in October 2011. He was found to be intoxicated with 3-4 per mille blood alcohol. The master had already been sentenced for drunken driving before and had lost his driving licence three years ago. The man lost his certificate to guide a ship too after the incident.
