Ferry suffered engine failure
The "Melshorn", enroute from Bognes to Skarberget, suffered an engine failure on May 28, 2018, in the Tysfjord just before midnight and drifted towards the shore in a fresh breeze. The crew managed to drop the anchor, and there were boats to secure the ferry, so luckily all went well. There were seven passengers on board and a crew of three. Two of the passengers were evacuated to shore by boat before the ferry was taken in tow. As the Seaking helicopter in Bodø was on another mission at the time, the air ambulance from Evenes was called out. The ferry route was closed for the time being.
