Defective cylinder valve replaced off Dungeness Point
The "Mekhanik Kraskovskiy", enroute from Kingston upon Hull to Rochefort, suffered a defect in a cylinder valve 11 miles from Dungeness Point in position 050 59 12.0 N, 001 14 30.6 E, on March 17 at 7.50 p.m. The defective cylinder valve needed to be replaced which was expected to take approximately one to two hours. The Channel Navigation Information Service made sure that the crew was aware of the weather and informed about the surrounding traffic. The vessel was carrying 960 metric tonnes of timber. The defective oil filter was exchanged at midnight, and the ship resumed its voyage with an ETA as of March 19.
Blackout in Arkhangelsk
The "Mekhanik Kraskovskiy", en route from Archangelsk to Immingham, carrying 3913 cubic meters of timber, while departing the port of Archangelsk, experienced a diesel generator failure and subsequently a blackout due to air leaks in the generator fuel pipeline, near the Archangelsk buoy No.8, on Nov 11, 2018, at 06.15 a.m. The vessel anchored immediately, and the crew commenced repairs to the generator. Power to the generator was restored at 06.45 a.m., and the ship to the outer roads for investigations at 0715 a.m. where it safely anchored at 08.40 a-m. Final repairs to the generator were completed, and the vessel resumed its passage to Immingham with an ETA as of Nov 19.
