Engine trouble offf Flamborough Head
The "Mekhanik Kottsov", en route from Grimsby to Archangelsk with a crew of 13 on board, suffered an engine failure about 22 miles northeast of Flamborough Head, in position 54 22 36N, 000 25 42E, on Sep 13, 2019, at 10.40 p.m. The crew started repairs, and after its completion the ship resumed its voyage on Sep 14 at 12.30 a.m. with an ETA as of Sep 22.
Ship drifted in North Sea storm
In the night of Jan 1, 2019, the "Mekhanik Kottsov", suffered engine trouble on the North Sea after having sailed from Bremerhaven at 4.15 p.m. The ship was drifting in a raging storm. The Central Command for Maritime Emergencies responded to the situation. After the problems were resolved, the ship resumed its voyage and berthed in Hamburgat the Krages Pier in Hamburg-Reiherstieg on Jan 2 at noon.
Freighter refloated without assistance
The "Mekhanik Kottsov" which ran aground while departing the port of Onega on Aug 16, refloated independently and proceeded to Archangelsk for inspections in accordance with navigation safety requirements. A diving inspection of the hull and a survey by the Russian Maritime Register revealed that the vessel had sustained no damage during the grounding. The vessel in accordance with its contract, sailed from Archangelsk and continued its passage to Saint-Malo on Aug 18. The vessel was carrying a cargo of 3903.3 cubic meters of packaged timber.
