Container ship towed to Damietta

The 'X Press Nile', enroute from Haifa to Damietta, suffered a failure of its main engine about eight nautical miles from Damietta on March 28, 2021, with 15 crew members on board. It was disabled and adrift. The Port Authority sent two tugs and a pilot to assist. The ship was taken in tow and taken to berth No. 6 for unloading the ship's cargo in preparation for the start of the repairs. A detailed damage survey has been completed and repairs were underway. Tecchnical failure in Antalya

The 'X-Press Nile' suffered a technical failure at Antalya on March 9, 2020. The vessel's departure permission was cancelled by the Harbour Master until completion of repairs and a verification of the repair status by state surveyors. The vessel was shifted from Antalya inner port to the anchorage, after the cargo operations had been completed. The repairs wer being carried out by the crew and the vessel remains stationary at Port Akdeniz in pos. 36° 50.22' N 030° 36.79' E as of March 11.
