Oil booms and sorbents have been deployed and cleanup crews have removed remaining fuel from the vessel and closed all vents. The Coastguard’s Puget Sound Incident Management Division was over overseeing removal and containment of the fuel discharge. The master claimed the tug has been used only for recreation over the past two years. The Coastguard wass working closely with the U.S. Navy, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Washington State Department of Ecology and local contractors to mitigate possible environmental impacts from the pollution.
