Ships detained in Constanta for unpaid salaries

Wed Mar 06 11:13:30 CET 2019 Timsen

The Port State Control office of the Romanian Naval Authority and the ITF (International Transport Federation) Romania detained the "Huseyn Javid" and the "Beccaria" from Panama for outstanding wages of the crew which together amounted to over 256,000 US dollars. Following the actions of the CPS and the ITF, shipowners Huseyn Javid paid $ 106,000 salaries to the crew of 11, all members of the Russian Naval Syndicate, who had been waiting for more than four months for the outstanding salaries. The salaries for the 13 crew members of Ukrainian nationality aboard the "Beccaria" have not paid for more than five months. The Ukrainian Union, whose members are sailors on board, will support certain crew expenses with ITF Romania, if the lawsuit is to be resolved.
