Engine failure in Istanbul Strait
The 'Maximus I', en route from Alexandria to Constanta, suffered an engine failure during the transit of the Istanbul Strait on June 4, 2023, at 4 p.m. Coastal Safety deployed the tugs 'Mehmetcik' and 'Kurtarma 2' along with a pilot to assist. Subsequently, the vessel resumed the passage under supervision of the tugs. The vessel was also imposed a fine.
Bulk carrier caused water polution in Izmit
On Sep 15, 2022, the 'Maximus 1', which was berthed in Izmi Kocaeli since Sep 13, polluted the Gulf of Izmit by discharing dirty ballast water. A pollution fine was imposed by the local municipality environmental pollution prevention department due to a breach of local regulation as per Marpol rules. Subsequently, an investigation file was opened by the local authority. As a result of the investigation, the 'Maximus- 1' was imposed a fine of $ 275500.00. The departure permission was cancelled by the Harbour Master until the payment of the fine together with cleaning expenses. The ship remained stationary as of Sep 16. Engine failure off Mariupol
On March 28, 2018, at 3.45 p.m. the "Eren C" suffered a main engine failure enroute to Gebze off the port of Mariupol,, where it had sailed on March 27 at 11.40 p.m., with a cargo of 9.939 tons steel on board. The engine stopped in the area of buoys No. 29-30 of the Kerch-Enikal canal. The vessel anchored in the buoy area No. 25-26. The AI Taikun agency sent two tugs to the vessel. At 10 p.m. the "Gandvik" if JuvasTrans", accompanied by the "Eltigen" had taken the ship in tow and started moving it to anchorage area No. 471 off Kerch for repairs by the crew. On March 29 it was still stationary in pos. N 45° 10.20' E 036° 31.33'. It arrived at Diliskelesi on Apr. 3.
