Drunken master fired after running tanker aground
The "Marlene 2", 1489 ts (EU-No.: 04600630;), which had run aground at the Elbe shore in Hollerwettern on Aug 7 between Wewelsfleth and Brokdorf, left the port of Glückstadt after surveys on Aug 9 at 3.30 p.m. and headed for Hamburg where it docked in the Kattyk Port at 5 p.m. The ship meanwhile had a new master after the previous one was found to have been intoxicated with 1,3 per thousand. Tank barge refloated
The "Marlene 2", 1489 ts (EU-No.: 04600630), which had run aground at the Elbe shore in Hollerwettern on Aug 7 between Wewelsfleth and Brokdorf, was refloated by the tugs "Hans" and "Parat" the same evening around 10 p.m. No pollution reports. The ship was towed to the port of Glückstadt where it was berthed on Aug 8 at 1 a.m. for further surveys and investigations.
Tanker ran aground on the Elbe
In the midday hours of Aug 7, 2014, the "Marlene 2" came off its course and ran aground at the Elbe shore in Hollerwettern enroute from Lauenburg to Hamburg. The ship was high and dry at low tide. The water police attended with the Launch "Bürgermeister Weichmann". The officers suspected the master to have been intoxicated. A tug was called to refloat the vessel with the high tide around midnight.
