Sunnmøre sailing again
North of Bodø the "Sunnmøre" needed the assistance of the Norwegian lifeboat "Stormbull - RS 146" from the NSSR-station Bodø in a critical situation. Bodø Radio got informed on Nov 14 at 06.40 a.m. that the cargo vessel had suffered a complete engine breakdown. The "Sunnmøre" was drifting quickly towards a steep rock and was at one time about 800 meters from shore, south of Løpsholmen, which is north of Bodø. The lifeboat needed ten minutes from receiving the alert until being on scene. With its 5,2 tons bollard pull it took the casualty in tow back towards Bodø, the tow itself lasted about four hours. On Nov 16 the "Sunnmøre" which previously had come from Trondheim to at 9 p.m. departed from Bodø again bound for Narvik after the damage was fixed, ETA Nov 17. Saved minutes before grounding, Norway
Sunnmore run into trouble in the morning Nov 14 2011, after engine failure disabled vessel was drifting towards nearby shore, south of Race Island, north of Bodo. Rescue boat Strombull was alerted by Bodo Radio at 0640 and steamed to assist, managing to take Sunnmore on tow minutes before grounding. Later Stormbull towed distressed vessel to Bodo.
