Brizo sailing again, Willi Ostermann in repair yard
The "Willi Ostermann" (EU-No.: 04025470) after its collision with the Belgian flagged, self propelled barge "Brizo", 2047 ts (EU-No.: 06000027) went to repairs at the Deutz Yard while the barge meanwhile continued to its homeport Antwerp with a cargo of salt. The prosecutors in Duisburg meanwhile continued their investigations. The rudder gear of the "Willi Ostermann" was found undamaged. Collision on the Rhine
On Aug 3 at 2.15 p.m. the "Brio" was hit by the German passenger m/v "Willi Ostermann" near the Hohenzollern Bdirge on the Rhine in Colonia. The "Willi Ostermann" had taken aboard attenders of a wedding party at 1.30 p.m. The bow of the "Willi Ostermann" and interior was damaged. Also the "Brizo" suffered damage, however, both ships were able to moor at the shore. Eight people aboard the "Willi Ostermann" had suffered bruises or cuts. Four of them were taken to surrounding hospitals, also the helicopter Christoph Rheinland was involved in the rescue operation and looked out for persons which possibly might have gone over board by the impact. At 3.19 p.m. all registered passengers had disembarked from the "Willi Ostermann". The married couple from Braunsfeld was not among the injured. According to investigations of the fire rescue the rudder of the passenger m/v had failed.
